My Masters of Arts is winding up. The series of paintings I'm doing for my body of works is titled Roads to Eternity. The exhibition opening will be held at Open studio 6pm on Friday the 14th October 2011. Here is one of the fliers
The works in this exhibition will depict ideas relating to the concept of eternity. They will be largely surrealist, with some realist and fantasy-like like works. I wanted to explore the nature of light in Heaven or eternity. I also explore ways people envisage creating their own path to attaining eternity. Many of the small works are more abstract than the larger works. They play with many of the ideas which came to mind when I was studying the nature of Heaven and eternity.
I am currently working on a series of botanical paintings in view of a solo exhibition in the near future.
Sales are continuing through this web site. I am happy to report that my website is more successful than most other artist websites in this area.
Medical Centre - I am currently exhibiting about 8 paintings at the Coffs Harbour Medical Centre on West High Street. They are a mixed bag and all are for sale.
The Masters - I've started to read for my Masters of Arts (Practice) which is going to entail a body of works (due at the end of 2011). The subject I've decided to paint a series of paintings on is 'eternity'. This is not going to be an easy task. There are a lot of different perspectives (mathematical, physical, spiritual, etc) from which the subject can be approached.Therefore there are a lot of different idea, beliefs and angles I need to sift through before a clear approach becomes clear. In a sens, this whole assignment will probably develop out of the initial works and writings produced and will evolve during the 2 years in the same way an artwork often evolves from a single splash of paint or a bright idea.
At 6.00P.M. on Friday the 13th November, 2009 I will be contributing to a three man show here in Coffs Harbour. It will be held at Open Studio (cnr Vernon and Duke Streets). The exhibition will then be open every Wednesday to Saturday for at least four weeks. The work I'm contributing will be "Explosions of creation executed with a minimum of pretension." I call then my "Nebulaic Expressions," and they are highly dramatic, colourful, surreal and experimental works. I hope everyone can come along and enjoy the art
On the evening of the 31st of October 2008 I got a welcome surprise. My entry into the 2008 EMSLA awards for still life, Surface Tension 1 won the Coffs Harbour Municipal Council Award of $5,000. The exhibition was of a very high standard and I was surprised and elated at my win.
I had a great night and met a whole lot of new people as well as enjoying the congratulations from all my friends. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of more success. The winning painting, Surface Tension I can be viewed in the Spiritual/Conceptual gallery on this site.
